You may have concerns about a possible structural defect in a building, perhaps due to cracks, leaning walls or excessively deflecting floors or beams. Alternatively a Building Surveyor may have reported possible defects during the process of house sale or purchase. We have many years of experience in the assessment of structural defects and the design of engineering solutions.
We are able to inspect and advise on structural defects and offer a fixed price service which includes the following:
- Reviewing any information you are able to provide, including any building survey or other reports;
- Visiting the property and carrying out a visual survey, as far as is possible without ‘opening up’ or special access arrangements;
- Providing a letter report assessing the cause of the structural defect and advising on the extent and type of any remedial work, if necessary.
Our fixed fee for this service is £375 plus VAT for properties in Kent and East Sussex, which includes travel costs. Fees for properties elsewhere will be higher in view of the additional travelling time from our offices – please ask for a quotation.
If remedial work is necessary we can provide a fixed price quotation for the design and any other necessary work which would be carried out as a separate commission. You can use our letter report to obtain alternative competitive quotations from other Engineers.
WHAT WE DON’T DO
Please note that we do not carry out general building surveys of the type carried out by Building Surveyors during the process of house sale or purchase. Nor do we carry out surveys of non-structural defects. We recommend that you contact an Architect, Building Surveyor or other suitably qualified and experienced professional as appropriate to the type of survey you need.
